BIBLE STUDY CLASS Held every Thursday at 1:00pm in the Church parlor. Pastor Jeff Snyder leads the group in learning about different books of the Bible. All are welcome! CHOIR We have an active choir that provides a variety of choral anthems and vocal music for the church services from September through June. Our emphasis is to enhance the worship service through a variety of music, from pop to classical. Anyone interested in joining our choir is welcome to attend choir practice held every Wednesday evening from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM under the direction of Mark Vona, organist & director. BELL CHOIR Churchill Memorial also has a three-octave bell choir that is active in the music program of our church. Rehearsals are generally on Wednesday nights from 6:00 PM to 7 PM and then also 12:15 PM to 1:00 PM on selected Sundays preceding a ring date. If you are interested in ringing bells, please contact Mark Vona (716-947-4439). FISH DINNERS Churchill Memorial United Methodist church offers two fish dinners in the Fall (usually Oct) and two in the Spring (after Easter), typically two weeks apart. Check the Churchill website or Facebook page each season for the exact dates. Sit down dinners and take out are served. The meal includes fried haddock, coleslaw, macaroni salad, our world famous German potato salad, bread, and pie. It’s a meal you won’t want to miss! UWF United Women in Faith is the new name given to our women's organization, the first name change in 50 years. It was renamed nationally to show how the United Methodist women's group has changed over the years and is more inclusive for women of all faiths. Its' Mission Statement is: "United Women in Faith seeks to connect and nurture women through Christian spiritual formation, leadership development, creative fellowship and education, so that they can inspire, influence and impact local and global communities." The UWF Purpose remains the same: "To be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church." Our Churchill Memorial UWF is a very active group, focusing our support of women, children and youth, both in our local area and around the world, by raising money in various ways. One way we do this is making and selling frozen pies. A wonderful group of women prepares the crusts and fruits, then assembles the pies about four times each year. We are well known for our delicious blueberry, apple, rhubarb, blackberry and strawberry rhubarb pies. Another fund-raising activity in the last few years has been quilt raffles. A small group of women have made quilts representing "Women of the Bible", "Boys of the Bible" and "The Amazing History of Hymns". All programs were well attended and very successful fund-raisers. Finally, the Churchill UWF has also raised money for missions with our annual Christmas Cookie Bake Sale held the first Saturday in December for many years. Churchill women make a variety of decorated cut-outs and other Christmas cookies which are boxed in one pound containers and sold for $15 a package. All proceeds from these fund-raising activities go to support our church and many local and worldwide mission organizations. Women of all ages are welcome to attend our meetings and participate in our activities. We hold monthly meetings throughout the year with programs planned to share information on various mission projects and events that support women, children and youth.
